King Supratishth was the ruler of Varanasi located in the state of Kashi. His Queen Prithvishena was blessed when on 'Bhadrapad Shukla Pashti' Aham Indra from
Subadra Viman embodied in her womb as
incarnation of Suparshvanath. Thereafter on 'Jyeshtha Shukla Dwadashi' a son was born. The Indra descended from the skies to take the child to
'panduk shila' for the celebration. Suparshvanath realized
vairagya while observing the change of seasons. He understood nothing lasts forever and hence went to the Sehtuk forest and took
renouncement under a Shirish tree. He took the Jaineshwari diksha on 'Jyeshtha Shukla Dwadashi' along with thousand other kings. His first
alms as an
ascetic were from King Mahendradatt of Somkhot. On harsh penance and continous meditation for 9 months, Lord attained
omniscience on 'Falgun Krushna Pashti'. After giving
sermons and preaching his learnings worldwide, Lord Went to Mount Sammed Shikhar to attain
nirvana. Lord Suparshvanath achieved salvation and went to moksha on the fortunate day of 'Falgun Krushna Saptami'.
